DIY Framed Kid’s Art Pinboard
An easy DIY for displaying kids artwork on the wall instead of your refrigerator using thrift store frames, scrap fabric and cork faced foam board.
As I’m writing this, I’ve hung five things on the wall since we moved in over a month ago and they all live on one wall. We haven’t done anything to the house yet because I really want to be intentional with any updates we make and honestly I haven’t had time to wrap my brain around what to do first. But, my “message center” was a priority because I needed a place that wasn’t our kitchen countertop for keys, important papers and the plethora of artwork my kids were bringing home daily. While our refrigerator is also used to display all of these pieces of art, our one year old is at the phase where he likes to tear everything down from it pretty consistently. No hate against a cluttered fridge, I personally love that lived in look for this season of life but I also had a different idea to give all these pieces of art a “fancier” place to live. I found a set of frames that I picked up at St. Vincent de Paul last year for under $4 each and figured I would find a purpose for them eventually. So since I had two frames and two kids, I thought they could work as a fun DIY pinboard for each kid.
Here’s how I did it! Click on each image for the full step-by-step tutorial.
Voila! Step back and admire your handiwork. I made two frame’s (one for each kid) and hung them up in our back hall, low enough that my 4 year old can reach and hang up his art himself. I plan to rotate the art out so there’s always something new to look at, but we will probably also just keep pinning new things over the top of old and that’s ok too. What to do with all the art after they’ve had their time in the frame and need to come down is totally up to you. Godspeed!
